Police say a suspect in a fatal shooting outside a major Lexington bookstore surrendered after barricading himself in his car for nearly three hours and threatening suicide.
Police spokeswoman Ann Gutierrez says 31-year-old Toby Ray Lasure, of Lexington, was charged with murder in connection with the shooting of a man in the parking lot of Joseph-Beth Booksellers at the Lexington Green shopping area.
The victim, who wasn't identified, was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gutierrez says witnesses told police the two men knew each other.
She says after police arrived at the bookstore, the suspect fled in his car to the parking lot of a mental health facility. He was holding a gun to his head inside the vehicle while talking with police negotiators on a cell phone, Gutierrez said.
