A woman whose left leg was severed after she was hit by a New York City bus has been awarded $27.5 million.
A jury awarded the money to 45-year-old janitorial worker Gloria Aguilar, who was struck while crossing a Manhattan street in November 2005.
Her lawyer Ben Rubinowitz says doctors amputated the leg above the knee.

New York City Transit spokesman Charles Seaton says the agency will appeal the verdict.
