Doctors say Brazil's vice president has left intensive care and been transferred to a hospital room following cancer surgery earlier in the week.
Sao Paulo's Sirio-Libanes hospital said Saturday in a statement that Jose Alencar is "recovering nicely" after a six-hour operation to remove 10 abdominal tumors.
The 77-year-old Alencar has fought abdominal cancer since 1997 and underwent 17 hours of surgery to remove tumors in January.
