RAGLEY, La. – Beauregard Parish sheriff's deputies have arrested two women after a child was found to have traces of cocaine in its system.
Deputies arrested 24-year-old Amanda Rae Aymond and 27-year-old Bonnie N. Young, both of Ragley, Wednesday evening following an investigation into a 911 call about a child who had swallowed an antidepressant.
Deputies say hospital authorities later reported that the child had traces of cocaine in its system.
Authorities say Aymond, the child's mother, told detectives that the drug was present at the residence. Aymond was booked with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. Detectives also arrested Young, a neighbor who was found to be in possession of cocaine and marijuana.
Deputies say the child is reported to be in stable condition at a local hospital.
