Zito, Hudson will square off as A's plan special 'Big Three' weekend

It's happening after all: Tim Hudson will face off against Barry Zito this weekend when the San Francisco Giants visit the Oakland Athletics.
This has been a possibility for a while now, especially after the A's finally called Zito up last week. The lefty made his season debut on Sunday in Houston, and despite a rocky inning of work he left it feeling rather upbeat.
The A's announced on Tuesday afternoon that the two will square off on Saturday, September 26. It will be a special day for everyone, considering both veteran pitchers are expected to retire after the 2015 season.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}In a fun and exciting twist, Mark Mulder - the third component of the A's "Big Three" of the early 2000s - will be on hand. Even better is all three pitchers will throw ceremonial first pitches on Sunday, September 27, the A's final home game of the 2015 season.
The A's, of course, are already eliminated from postseason contention and the Giants have a good chance of being eliminated once Saturday rolls around. This should make for a pretty great way to cap off an otherwise disappointing season of baseball in the Bay Area.
