Xavier promotes Amy Waugh to head coach

CINCINNATI – Xavier has promoted Amy Waugh (WAH) to women's basketball coach, leaving two former Musketeer players leading its basketball program.

Waugh was an assistant to Kevin McGuff the last two seasons. McGuff left for Washington after Xavier was knocked out in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Waugh was introduced at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon. She and men's basketball coach Chris Mack both played for the Musketeers. Waugh was a point guard from 1999-2003.

Waugh also was an assistant coach for one season at Youngstown State and five seasons at Wake Forest.
