Whitecaps beat FC Edmonton 2-0 to advance to Canadian Championship final

Corey Hertzog scored to help the Vancouver Whitecaps beat FC Edonton 2-0 on Wednesday night for a spot against Montreal in the Canadian Championship final.

Vancouver outscored FC Edmonton 5-2 in the two-game semifinal. The Whitecaps will face Montreal in the two-game final, with the winner advancing to the CONCACAF Champions League.

Hertzog scored in the 58th minute with a 35-yard strike. Nine minutes later, FC Edmonton's Shaun Saiko headed a corner kick into the net for an own goal.

Montreal routed Toronto 6-0 for a 6-2 aggregate victory.
