With Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook in and out of the lineup in the first half against Maryland, the Spartans' defense chipped in to try to help the Spartans get their ninth win of the season.

Linebacker Riley Bullough broke a 7-all tie with a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Coming with just over two minutes left in the second quarter, it gave the Spartans a 14-7 lead over the Terrapins, who have had turnover issues all season.

MSU added a field goal at the end of the second quarter for a 17-7 halftime lead.
