After going into the halftime break tied with the division-leading Green Bay Packers on Sunday, the Detroit Lions got a big lift when rookie running back Ameer Abdullah returned the second-half kickoff 104 yards.

Packers defensive back Micah Hyde barely brought down Abdullah from behind, saving the touchdown. However, the Lions scored three plays later, when quarterback Matthew Stafford found tight end Brandon Pettigrew open in the end zone for a 2-yard touchdown.

The Lions, who entered the game with only one win, took a 9-3 lead on Pettigrew's touchdown, set up by Abdullah's return. Although Detroit has struggled to create big plays this season, the second-round pick from Nebraska serves as a reminder that this team still has some playmakers in place for the future.
