VanVleet posts triple-double; Shockers slam Bears

Wichita, KS (SportsNetwork.com) - Fred VanVleet posted Wichita State's first triple-double in 33 years, and the 16th-ranked Shockers dominated Missouri State, 78-35, at Charles Koch Arena.
VanVleet had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists for the Shockers (21-3, 11-1, MVC), who won their 29th in a row at home. Ron Baker scored 17 and Darius Carter scored 10 for Wichita State, which has won back-to-back contests since a 70-54 loss at Northern Iowa on Jan. 31.
The triple-double for VanVleet was the first for the Shockers since Terry Benton had one on Jan. 29, 1972 against Tulsa.

Gavin Thurman scored nine and Chris Kendrix had eight points for the Bears (9-15, 3-9), who have lost two straight and nine of their last 10 games.
Shaquille Morris, who scored 10 points, hit a layup to cap a 10-0 run to extend Wichita State's lead to 14-3 6:35 into the game. The hosts finished the opening half on an 11-0 flurry to widen the gap to 37-13.
Missouri State shot just 5-of-26 over the first 20 minutes; and they were blitzed to start the second half. Wichita State began the period on a 15-2 burst, finished by VanVleet's layup. The margin reached as high as 46.
