Top-seeded Sara Errani of Italy reached the Open GDF Suez final when Kiki Bertens retired from their semifinal with back pains while trailing 5-0.

The 25-year-old Errani will face the winner of the semifinal between Kristina Mladenovic of France and Mona Barthel of Germany.

The seventh-ranked Errani reached the French Open final and U.S. Open semifinals last year.

The winner of six career titles won her last title on clay at Palermo in July — her fourth title of 2012.
