George Washington is off to its best start in eight years.

The Colonials are 8-1, having topped Miami, Creighton, Rutgers and Maryland. They host Boston University on Wednesday.

The victory over the Terrapins on Sunday was a landmark moment, a win over a neighboring school from a power conference. Graduate student Maurice Creek won the game with a step-back buzzer-beater.

The Colonials have been rebuilt by coach Mike Lonergan, who arrived two years ago.
