Super Bowl decision on Pouncey to go down to the wire

DALLAS (Reuters) - Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey said the team will wait until Super Bowl Sunday before deciding whether he is fit to take the field against the Green Bay Packers.
Pouncey, who struggled off the plane on crutches after landing on Monday, appears to have a remote chance of playing.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}But Pouncey, who has a high ankle sprain, rejected talk that he has a fracture and has already been ruled out.
"I don't know where those (reports) came from, probably from the media," he told reporters Tuesday. "Me and the doc are the only two that know right now. I feel good, I'm walking around good today.
"I took the cast off and I've got this (protective) boot on. There is no break. I don't know where that came from either, it's just a high ankle sprain.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"As long as I feel good, I'll make the call. It's on me and if I don't feel right going out there then I'm not going to play. If I do, I will go out and do what I always do.
"I can get around pretty good but you have got to get used to pushing around 350 pounders. When I'm walking it's just my weight and it's pretty easy.
"But it's not easy when you are pushing someone."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}If Pouncey cannot play, Doug Legursky is ready to step in.
Legursky, who was born in Frankfurt while his family was serving in the U.S. military, has been more often utilised at guard but says he is comfortable making the switch to center.
"Absolutely, I have been comfortable since day one with that. I kind of pride myself in being a student of the game," he said.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}"If I have the chance and Pouncey is going to be out for the game then I'm excited about the opportunity to show that I can take the reins of the offensive line and hopefully lead these guys to a win."
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said, however, he was "definitely not going to count (Pouncey) out."
"I don't think anything he's done this year would lead you to believe that he's incapable of showing up," he said. "So we're going to give him every opportunity to do so."
