Sterling ties it, Liverpool beats Manchester City on penalty kicks at Yankee Stadium

Simon Mignolet saved two penalty kicks and Lucas Leiva scored in the fourth round to lift Liverpool past Manchester City after they tied 2-2 on Wednesday night in an International Champions Cup game.

Liverpool's Raheem Sterling curled in a goal in the 85th minute to tie it at 2 at Yankee Stadium in front of 49,653 fans. Emre Can and Jordan Henderson also converted penalty kicks for Liverpool in the Pool B game.

Stevan Jovetic scored two goals, for a second consecutive match, for Premier League champion Manchester City. Jesus Navas crossed a ball into the 6-yard box through the legs of Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, and Jovetic touched it home the 53rd minute. A deflected ball fell to his feet in the 67th minute and he punched it under the outstretched arm of Mignolet.

Henderson tied it for Liverpool at 1 when he bent a ball around second-half goalkeeper Joe Hart.
