St. John's edges Rutgers 58-56

Justin Brownlee made a layup with 4 seconds left to give St. John's a 58-56 win over Rutgers on Wednesday night.
The Red Storm (13-8, 5-5 Big East) led 50-40 with 6:52 left, but the Scarlet Knights chipped away until Robert Lumpkins hit three consecutive 3-pointers to tie it at 56 with 18 seconds left.
After Brownlee's layup, Rutgers' Dane Miller missed a 3 at the buzzer.

Dwight Hardy scored 15 points to pace St. John's, which has won two in a row after a three-game skid.
Rutgers (12-10, 3-7), which has lost three straight and five of its last seven, was paced by Jonathan Mitchell with 21 points, including 4 of 5 from 3-point range.
The Red Storm opened with a 9-0 run and led by as many as 11 in the first half before Rutgers tied it at 31 at halftime.
