Southern Illinois adds Oregon State transfer

Southern Illinois gladly used its recruiting advantage after running back Malcolm Agnew decided to transfer from Oregon State.

Agnew's brother Ray can block for Malcolm at SIU. Ray is a Salukis fullback.

SIU head football coach Dale Lennon announced Monday the addition of Malcolm Agnew to his Missouri Valley Conference program.

Agnew will be a junior for the 2013 season. In two seasons at Oregon State, he rushed for 692 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Included was a 223-yard, three-touchdown performance in his first collegiate game in 2011.

Agnew was a former track sprinter at De Smet Jesuit High School in St. Louis.
