South Carolina starting quarterback Connor Shaw will miss spring practice this year after having surgery on his left foot Friday.

Team physician, Dr. Jeffrey Guy, says Shaw's surgery for a left foot sprain was successful, but he would not recover in time to take part in spring workouts.

Shaw injured his foot in a victory over Tennessee on Oct. 27. After sitting out the final regular-season game against Clemson, Shaw played in the Outback Bowl and re-aggravated the injury in a 33-28 win over Michigan.

Guy says Shaw was expected to make a full recovery.

Freshman linebacker Cedrick Cooper had surgery on his left knee Friday. Guy says Cooper is also expected to fully recover and will also miss spring practices.
