The New England Patriots and veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne have agreed to a one-year deal, a source confirmed to FOX Sports 1 NFL Insider Mike Garafolo confirmed on Monday.
The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.
A six-time Pro Bowler, Wayne has been without a team since the Indianapolis Colts opted not to re-sign him following the 2014 season. Wayne had offseason surgery on his triceps and knee and went in for a physical with the Patriots over the weekend.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The Patriots have been dealing with injury issues at the wide receiver position as Brandon LaFell and Julian Edelman have missed all of training camp. Wayne's presence gives the team a steady hand with a proven track record in big games.
The Colts and Patriots will face off in Week 6 in Indianapolis.
