Sean Monahan scores twice, leads Flames to 6-3 win over Maple Leafs

Sean Monahan scored twice in his first career three-point game, and the Calgary Flames used a four-goal first period to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 on Friday night.
The 20-year-old Monahan has 10 goals in his last 13 games to move into a tie for 11th in the NHL in goals — one behind Evgeni Malkin and Corey Perry.
It was a big win for the surging Flames, who are 5-0-1 in their last six games. Calgary moved into second place in the Pacific Division, one point up ahead of Vancouver, which has one game in hand.

Monahan's two wingers, Jiri Hudler and Johnny Gaudreau, both had a goal and two assists. The Flames' top line has been surging with each member on a six-game point streak. The trio has combined for 16 goals and 30 points over that span.
