Russell Wilson was named the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks by head coach Pete Carroll on Sunday.
A third-round draft pick out of Wisconsin, he has passed for 464 yards and five touchdowns on 35-of-52 passing along with one interception. He also has 10 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Carroll said that Wilson won the job instead of free agent pickup Matt Flynn, who signed a three-year deal in the offseason.

Wilson will start the preseason finale against Kansas City on Friday and will guide the team when they open the regular season in Arizona on September 9.
A report earlier on Sunday has the Seahawks sending quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, a former starter in the NFL, to the Buffalo Bills.
