The Seattle Seahawks made a pair of roster moves Wednesday, signing linebacker Nick Moody off the practice squad and bringing in cornerback Crezdon Butler.

Moody, who started two games for the San Francisco 49ers last season, provides insurance with the questionable status of middle linebacker Bobby Wagner, who is dealing with a pectoral injury.

Butler appeared in 11 games, starting three, and made 14 tackes for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. He also appeared in 12 games with the San Diego Chargers in 2013.

The signing of Butler was expected with the Seahawks dealing with multiple injuries in the secondary. Marcus Burley is sidelined following thumb surgery and Tharold Simon is done for the season with a toe injury that will require surgery.

Seattle cleared roster space on Tuesday by releasing wide receiver B.J. Daniels and running back Rod Smith.
