The New Orleans Saints' defense is taking more positives than negatives from Friday night's 17-13 victory over Kansas City in the preseason opener.
Adjusting to new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's 3-4 scheme, the Saints like the way they held the Chiefs to 135 yards and two field goals after giving up a long touchdown drive to open the game. Of course, Kansas City pulled its starters after that first series.
"They just came out with a quick tempo and a good game plan to start, and it took us a while to adjust and get settled down," Saints outside linebacker Will Smith said.

After allowing the most yards of any team in NFL history last season, almost every Saints defender has a new role in Ryan's scheme.
