Ryan Moore had enough good par saves and birdies for a 3-under 68 on Friday to take the early lead in the Northern Trust Open.

Moore went 22 straight holes without a bogey until missing a 5-foot par putt on the 18th hole. Considering how firm the greens have been at Riviera, he had no complaints.

Moore was at 5-under 137, one shot ahead of two-time major champion Angel Cabrera among early starters. Cabrera made bogey on two of his last three holes for a 68.

Derek Fathauer, part of a six-way tie for the lead after the opening round, had four bogeys on the back nine for a 73. He was at 3-under 139, along with defending champion Bubba Watson (69).

The other 18-hole leaders played in the afternoon.
