Royals' injured closer ruled out for rest of season because of elbow

Kansas City Royals reliever Greg Holland will not be available the rest of this season or postseason because of his elbow injury.
Manager Ned Yost announced Tuesday that Holland had been removed from his closer role and replaced by Wade Davis. But Holland hadn't been ruled out entirely until this latest announcement.
In 48 relief appearances this season, Holland is 3-2 with a 3.83 ERA and 32 saves. He has struck out 49 batters in 44 2/3 innings. Although impressive, his numbers across the board are far less dominant than his previous three seasons.

According to The Kansas City Star, Holland's injury could be serious.
