Roma, AC Milan share the spoils at San Siro

Milan, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Sulley Muntari's tally 13 minutes from time salvaged a point for AC Milan in a thrilling 2-2 draw with AS Roma on Monday at the San Siro.

Coming off a 2-2 draw against Livorno on Dec. 7 and a scoreless stalemate last Wednesday in the Champions League against Ajax, Milan was slow to get into the game in the first half and Roma opened the scoring 12 minutes in.

Kevin Strootman set the play in motion as he got free down the left flank and sent a low cross into the area where Mattia Destro slotted it home on the slide

But the hosts found an equalizer in the 29th minute as a corner kick to the near post was headed back across the face of goal by Muntari before Cristian Zapata nodded it home.

Roma retook the advantage in the 51st minute when Gervinho was taken down by Milan goalkeeper Gabirel resulting in a penalty kick which Kevin Strootman calmly converted.

Once again, however, Milan had an answer when Muntari got free on the right side of the box and whipped a low strike under the outstretched arm of Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis.

Both clubs had plenty of opportunities to find a winner in the final 10 minutes, chances were wasted as the sides were forced to settle for a point apiece.

The result sees Milan rise to 10th in Serie A on 19 points, while Roma maintains its unbeaten mark in league play and sits five points behind league- leaders Juventus.
