Report: Dempster bound for Boston

The Boston Red Sox have reportedly bolstered their rotation through free agency, reaching a deal with right-hander Ryan Dempster.

According to the Boston Globe, Dempster and the Red Sox have agreed to terms on a two-year, $26.5 million contract.

The 35-year-old British Columbia native split the 2012 season with the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers. He had spent his entire career in the National League up until the July 31st trade to the Rangers.

Dempster struggled in his short time with Texas, posting a 5.09 earned run average in 12 starts.

For his career, Dempster has compiled a 124-124 record with a 4.33 ERA in 547 games (322 starts) with the Marlins, Reds, Cubs and Rangers. He also recorded 87 saves during his time with Chicago.
