PFL champ San Diego sets 2017 schedule

(STATS) - San Diego will play five home games while trying to defend the Pioneer Football League title in its 11-game schedule that was announced Saturday.

The Toreros are coming off a 10-2 record and the first-ever FCS playoff win by a PFL team last season. They finished 19th in the STATS FCS Top 25.

This season, coach Dale Lindsey's team will host Western New Mexico in the opener Sept. 2 and then four PFL opponents: Butler (Sept. 23), Morehead State (Oct. 14), Drake (Nov. 4) and Marist (Nov. 18).

Highlights of the road portion of the schedule includes a trip to 2016 Ivy League co-champ Princeton (Sept. 16) and a matchup against PFL runner-up Dayton (Sept. 30).
