Kellen Winslow Jr. and Mike Sims-Walker are veterans trying to revive their NFL careers while helping the New York Jets' offense.
Both players participated in the team's first minicamp practice Tuesday as part of a three-day tryout with hopes of sticking.
Winslow, a former Pro Bowl tight end, was once considered one of the top pass catchers at his position before a failed one-game stint last season with the New England Patriots. He says being a tryout player is "different" but adds that it's "better than sitting on the couch," as he was while waiting for another NFL opportunity. He says he has "got years left."

Sims-Walker was also considered one of the league's rising wide receivers, but never reached expectations and was out of the NFL last year.
