Notre Dame coaching great Ara Parseghian says he hates to see the school's annual game against Purdue coming to an end after so many memorable games.

The 91-year-old coach led the Irish to a 6-5 record against the Boilermakers. He says the common theme for the Boilermakers when he was coaching was outstanding quarterbacks.

In 1965, Bob Griese completed 19 of 22 passes for 283 yards to beat No. 1 Notre Dame 25-21. Then in 1967, Mike Phipps threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-21 victory over the top-ranked Fighting Irish. Before Parseghian was there, Len Dawson cost the Irish a shot at a national championship in 1954 when he threw four touchdowns in a 27-14 victory.

The teams play Saturday.
