Not enough footballs in Broncos backfield to go around, veteran Lance Ball among cuts

Veteran backup running back Lance Ball is among the Denver Broncos' early cuts.
Ball had a 69-yard gain on a screen pass in Denver's exhibition finale Thursday, earning a fist bump from coach John Fox.
It wasn't enough to keep Ball on the roster or his $1.323 million salary on the books, however.

The Broncos also cut wide receiver Gerell Robinson, lineman Ben Garland, cornerback Aaron Hester, linebacker Damien Holmes and defensive end John Youboty.
They have to reach their 53-man roster limit Saturday.
Robinson had five catches for 99 yards against Arizona on Thursday night, but it appears fifth-round draft pick Tavarres King will be the Broncos' fifth wide receiver.

The Broncos will likely try to add Robinson to their practice squad Sunday if he clears waivers.
