NEW YORK (Reuters) - Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger and two other assistants have been fired by new coach Mike Munchak, the team said Tuesday.

"This wasn't about his health - he is feeling good - it is a change of direction for us," Munchak, who replaced Jeff Fisher, said in a statement.

Heimerdinger, 58, had served as Tennessee's offensive coordinator for the past three seasons in his second stint with the Titans. He held the same position from 2000-04.

He had signed a one-year extension, which Titans senior executive vice president Steve Underwood said the team would honor.

Assistants Rayna Stewart and Richie Wessman also were released.
