NASCAR Xfinity Series Allicat 300 postponed until Sunday by rain

The start of the NASCAR Xfinity Series Allicat 300 was postponed by a thunderstorm Saturday night at Chicagoland Speedway.

The race was rescheduled for 11 a.m. CDT Sunday.

A storm hit the track about 50 minutes before the green flag. The rain stopped about 25 minutes later, but the second wave of rain was about an hour away, so NASCAR officials, with a city-imposed midnight curfew for racing in effect, decided not to wait out a potential second delay.

Austin Dillon is on the pole in a Chevrolet with a qualifying speed of 176.569 mph. He's joined on the front row by Ross Kenseth, the 22-year-old son of the former Sprint Cup champion making his debut in a NASCAR-sanctioned race.

Unlike most Xfinity races, there are no drivers from the Sprint Cup series dropping down to run in this race, even though the Sprint Cup series is off this weekend.
