Michigan's Funchess to enter NFL Draft
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Ann Arbor, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Michigan wide receiver Devin Funchess announced Tuesday that he will forgo his senior season and declare for the 2015 NFL Draft.
Funchess, considered a possible first-round pick by a number of scouting services due to his 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame and potential to be used as a wide receiver/tight end hybrid player, finished third in the Big Ten with 62 catches this past season. The 20-year-old also led the Wolverines in receiving yards (733) and touchdown catches (four) in 2014.
"I would like to thank my family, coaches and teammates for their support," said Funchess. "It's always been a dream of mine to play in the NFL, and I am prepared to take the next step in my journey."
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Over 37 career games with the Wolverines, Funchess amassed 126 receptions for 1,715 yards with 15 touchdowns. A second-team All-Big Ten selection as a junior, he also earned the conference's Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year award in 2013 after putting up 727 yards and six touchdowns on 47 catches that season.
