The New York Liberty announced prior to Sunday's tilt versus Atlanta that veteran forward Essence Carson will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.
Carson was helped off the court in New York's loss in Atlanta on Friday with 3:56 left in the third quarter after her leg appeared to give out during a fastbreak attempt.
Through four games this season, Carson had averaged 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. Over a five-year WNBA career, the Rutgers product has averaged 8.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest.
