Late Zaliukas penalty rescues Hearts at Inverness

Hearts avoided a second straight loss in Scottish Premier League action on Saturday as a late penalty from Marius Zaliukas gifted the visitors a point in a 1-1 draw with Inverness at Caledonian Stadium.

Hearts began the campaign with a four-game unbeaten run but has lost five out of nine since to fall into the bottom-half of the table.

The club looked to be on its way to a sixth defeat of the season when Owain Tudur-Jones opened the scoring for Inverness in the 19th minute.

The home side held the lead until the dying minutes when Zaliukas converted a penalty kick in the 90th minute to see Hearts improve to 14 points on the season.

Inverness drops to fourth place with 19 points.

Also on Saturday, Paul Heffernan scored twice to help Kilmarnock cruise to a 3-0 defeat of Ross County, four different scorers helped Aberdeen to a 4-1 thrashing of St. Mirren, and Motherwell played to a 1-1 draw with Dundee.
