Kevin Durant is expected to make his free agent decision on July 4th

Kevin Durant has concluded his free agent meetings with the Warriors, Celtics, Spurs, Heat, Clippers and Thunder, but we'll reportedly need to wait at least one more day before hearing his decision.

The thinking all season around the NBA was that Durant would ultimately re-sign in Oklahoma City, on a one-year max-salary deal that came with it a player option for a second season. Not only would that allow him to maximize his earning potential in the summer of 2017, when the salary cap will be even higher and he'd be eligible for a larger contract after having 10 years of service, but it would also allow Durant and Russell Westbrook to mull their free agent futures at the very same time.

The Celtics and Warriors made compelling presentations, however, with Boston bringing in Tom Brady and getting Al Horford to agree to a deal, while Golden State enlisted the help of Jerry West to explain why the Warriors would ultimately be the best option.

At this point, it's reportedly down to either turning the historically great Warriors into a potential dynasty, or returning to the Thunder to take care of some unfinished business. Whatever Durant decides, he'll be setting off some Fourth of July fireworks of his own whenever he makes his announcement.
