Jahr sparks late comeback as Evansville rallies for 49-44 victory over Western Illinois

Jordan Jahr had 13 points and eight rebounds and Evansville closed the game on a 15-2 run to defeat Western Illinois 49-44 Saturday night in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
The Purple Aces (2-2) trailed 42-34 with 8:45 remaining when Jaylon Moore started the run with a three-point play and Jahr followed with two 3-pointers. Western Illinois (2-2) got its only points during that long stretch when Jack Houpt scored on a layup. But by then, there were only 17 seconds remaining and the Fighting Leathernecks trailed 47-44.
Ned Cox added 11 points for Evansville.

Terell Parks had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Western Illinois. Don McAvoy added 10 points and eight rebounds. The Leathernecks shot better than Evansville from the field — 43 percent to 35 percent — but were 0 for 4 on 3-point attempts and just 4 for 10 at the free-throw line.
