Islanders suing arena management company over Coliseum sublease

The New York Islanders may have a new home, but that doesn't mean they are free and clear of issues with their old one.
The Islanders filed a lawsuit in the state Supreme Court on Aug. 10 against Service Management Group Inc., the team's former lease partner at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. New York is contending that the Pennsylvania-based company failed to live up to the terms of an arena sublease and owes the team at least $1 million.
Service Management Group countered that the Islanders defaulted on $10.3 million of payments for violating the terms of a 2010 sublease at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The company contends that the team did not ante up that money by July 31, which was the official end date of the lease.
