The Cleveland Indians announced Tuesday that a Monday MRI exam revealed mild tendinitis of Chris Perez's right rotator cuff.
Perez, who was placed on the disabled list Monday, will not throw for 5-to-7 days. He will then be re-evaluated to determine whether or not he can return to his throwing program.
The right-hander is 2-1 with six saves and a 4.32 ERA in 17 relief appearances this year. Vinnie Pestano is expected to close games for Cleveland during Perez's absence.
