Indianapolis fills running back by singing RB Herron off Bengals practice squad

The Indianapolis Colts signed running back Dan Herron and linebacker Andy Studebaker to their active roster Wednesday.

Herron replaced Ahmad Bradshaw, who was placed on the season-ending injured reserve list Wednesday because of a neck injury.

The 5-foot-10, 212-pound Herron had been on the Bengals practice squad. Herron was Cincinnati's sixth-round draft pick in 2012 draft. He had five carries for five years and blocked a punt as a rookie.

Studebaker played in 70 games, starting eight with Kansas City, from 2008 to 2012. The 6-foot-3, 248-pound free agent had career totals of 51 tackles, 2½ sacks and two interceptions before he was released by the Chiefs in April.
