Hoyer to start at QB for Browns on Sunday

Cleveland Browns coach Rob Chudzinski has informed Brian Hoyer that he will start at quarterback Sunday at Minnesota.

Starting quarterback Brandon Weeden is dealing with a sprained thumb after hitting it on a helmet during the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 14-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Jason Campbell took over for Weeden on Cleveland's final possession and threw three incompletions in a row. His fourth pass, an underhand scoop, left Jordan Cameron well short of a first down.

Weeden passed for 227 yards before leaving the game. The 2012 first-round pick has thrown for 516 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions this season for the Browns (0-2).

The decision to go with Hoyer against the Vikings is somewhat surprising, considering Campbell is listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the team's depth chart.

Hoyer played in two games (one start) with the Cardinals last season, passing for 330 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
