Guardiola, Bayern to face Barca in CL semis

Nyon, Switzerland (SportsNetwork.com) - Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola will square off against his former side, Barcelona, in the semifinals of the Champions League, while Real Madrid was drawn against Juventus.

Guardiola spent four years in charge of Barcelona, guiding the club to a pair of Champions League titles and 14 trophies in all during a wildly successful tenure.

However, he knows his Bayern side will face a huge test in the Catalan outfit as the German club attempts to reach its third Champions League final in four years.

The meeting marks the first time that Guardiola will be facing his former side since he left Spain in 2013, and the sides will meet up at the Camp Nou in the first leg on May 6, with Bayern hosting the return leg six days later.

Bayern overcame a 3-1 first-leg deficit against FC Porto to advance 7-4 on aggregate after a resounding 6-1 win in Germany in the second leg.

Barcelona was equally as impressive in dispatching French champions PSG, 5-1 on aggregate, setting up a meeting of the two favorites to win this year's title.

The other semifinal features two more traditional powers squaring off after both sides escaped the quarterfinal round with narrow 1-0 aggregate victories.

Real Madrid slipped past Atletico Madrid thanks to an 88th-minute goal from Javier Hernandez in the second leg, while Juventus used a first-half penalty kick from Arturo Vidal in the first leg to separate from Monaco.

The first leg of the semifinal will played on Tuesday, May 5 in Italy, with Madrid hosting the second leg on May 13.
