Genoa fires Malesani, names Marino new coach

Genoa fired Alberto Malesani on Thursday after just six months in charge, and named Pasquale Marino its new manager.

Malesani was only named manager in June, but following a 6-1 loss to Napoli on Wednesday, his latest coaching stint is over. Malesani has also coached Siena, Bologna, Udinese, Parma and Fiorentina, among others.

Marino signed a contract through the 2012-13 season. The 49-year-old has been a coach since 1997, with stints at Udinese and Parma his two most recent jobs.

Genoa is 10th in Serie A.
