Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley is leaving Colorado — maybe without a coach.
The Gators released an ambiguous statement Wednesday after spending hours talking to Colorado State coach Jim McElwain at his home. Florida says: "We've had very productive conversations with Coach McElwain and his wife Karen and those continue."
Florida's charter plane filed a flight plan to leave Fort Collins and return to Gainesville later Wednesday. McElwain and his wife were not aboard, according to several media outlets at the airport.

Foley is looking to replace Will Muschamp, who was fired Nov. 16.
McElwain emerged as the top target, but it's possible his $7.5 million buyout is creating problems.
