Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur, 40, back at practice after missing 12 games with sore back

New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur is back at practice after missing the last 12 games with a sore back.

The 40-year-old Brodeur last played in a 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Feb. 21. The NHL's all-time winningest goalie had an 8-2-3 mark with one shutout and a 2.27 goals-against average before being hurt.

Johan Hedberg has started every game since Brodeur was sidelined, posting a 3-7-2 record.

It was not immediately known whether Brodeur would play on Tuesday night when the rival New York Rangers visit the Prudential Center in a crucial game for both teams with the lockout-shortened regular season coming down to its final six weeks.

The Devils beat the Rangers 3-1 earlier this season, as Brodeur made 24 saves.
