Is Matt Boyd headed to Motown already?
Less than one week after being acquired by the Tigers in a four-player deal that sent David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays, it looks like Boyd is getting called up by Detroit.
The news was first speculated when the left-hander was M.I.A. following the Mud Hens' 11-8 loss in Toledo on Monday night, as reported by The Toledo Blade.

Multiple reports suggest that Boyd will be recalled to make his Tigers debut Wednesday against the Royals.
The move doesn't come as much of a surprise. Boyd made his first start since the trade on Saturday for Triple-A Toledo, but only threw 40 pitches over two innings. Tigers GM Dombrowski confirmed Boyd was on a pitch count, although he didn't explain why. Reporters suggested that Boyds' restrictions meant a big league call-up was imminent, and the emptied locker Monday night seemed to support that.
All signs suggest that struggling starter Buck Farmer will be optioned to Triple-A to make room for Boyd. Farmer has an 8.50 ERA and 1.86 WHIP in four starts with Detroit this year.

Boyd, a sixth-round pick in the 2013 draft, is 9-2 with a 1.65 ERA in 18 starts this season between Double-A and Triple-A.
