A welterweight showdown between two of the division's best has just been added to the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Brazil as Demian Maia takes on Matt Brown on May 14.

UFC officials confirmed the fight on Monday with a location for the event still pending.

Maia will return to action looking for his fifth win in a row following his most recent victory over Gunnar Nelson at UFC 194 this past December.

The decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner has been clamoring for a title shot since his last win but it appears the UFC opted to go in a different direction with this latest fight booking.

Brown will look to secure a big win to add to his resume when he gets back in action in May after a lengthy layoff due to injury.

Brown was expected to face Kelvin Gastelum last November but an ankle injury forced him out of the fight. He then had hand surgery that put him on the shelf but a recent doctor's visit revealed that he would be able to train again in just a few short weeks. Brown most recently competed at UFC 189 this past July where he defeated Tim Means by submission.

Now Brown has booked his next fight as he steps into enemy territory to face Maia in Brazil.

The card taking place on May 14 will be headlined by middleweight contenders Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Vitor Belfort with more fights expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
