The Dallas Cowboys have signed veteran guard Brian Waters to bolster a position plagued by injuries since the start of training camp.
The team reported on its website that Waters signed a one-year deal Tuesday night. He will get $1.5 million in base salary.
Waters signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie fullback 14 years ago out of North Texas before going on to a 10-year career as a lineman with Kansas City. The Dallas-area high school product played for New England in 2011 and was out of football last year.

Both of last year's starters, Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau, have battled injuries. Livings is on injured reserve. Ron Leary, who has never taken a regular-season snap, is the other viable option.
