College Football Season Kicks Off On FOX

The 2013 college football season kicks off with a bang with three straight days of action. Starting off the season is an in-state rivalry game as the Utah Utes host the Utah State Aggies. The Aggies are coming off one of the their most successful seasons in history having won the Western Athletic Conference Championship, notching an 11-2 overall record and finishing ranked 16th in the final Associated Press poll. But much will be new for the 2013 team as they move to a new conference, the Mountain West, under the direction of a new coach. The Aggies are positioned to succeed in their new home with eight offensive and seven defensive starters returning' from last year's squad. Tops among the returnees is junior quarterback, Chuckie Keeten, a two-year starter who last year threw for 3,373 yards and tossed 27 touchdowns. Additionally, the Aggies should once again be stout on defense, giving Utah a tough season-opening opponent. As for the Utes, after an uncharacteristic down year, coach Kyle Whittingham brought in former Miami head coach Dennis Erickson to serve as co-offensive coordinator alongside Brian Johnson. Expect a return to a true spread offense for the Utes which should kickstart an offense that struggled to score last year. Add a talented incoming class and Utah should return to national prominence. Also featured this week, North Dakota State takes on Kansas State and on Saturday in prime time, FOX Sports debuts its two-hour college football pre-game show, FOX College Saturday, followed by William & Mary at West Virginia. Early Sunday, live coverage wraps up as Boise State takes on Washington in what should be one of the best games of opening weekend.
