Francesco Lodi's first-half penalty kick 0 win at Siena on Wednesday that lifts the visitors nine points clear of the relegation zone.

Wins have been scarce for both clubs in recent weeks but the difference came in the 23rd minute when Siena's Alessandro Gazzi handled the ball inside his own penalty area, giving Lodi the chance to beat goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo from the spot.

Siena turned up the pressure over the final 20 minutes but was kept out by some good goalkeeping from Catania's Juan Pablo Carrizo.

The result leaves Siena with one win from its last seven matches and only two points above the relegation zone.
